Press Democrat: Chico educator Audrey Denney running against ‘corporate greed’ in Northern California congressional race

Audrey Denney sat down with The Press Democrat to discuss her race in California’s First Congressional District, and the stakes of the race in a newly drawn district that is all-but-certain to elect a Democrat to represent it. In an interview several days before the Indivisible event, Denney explained the “getting money out of politics has always been a central tenet of my campaigns.” That’s why she did so well, she believes, with “No party preference” voters in 2018 and 2020.

“We all know that corporate greed is entrenched in our political and economic systems, and stunting progress on all these issues that we care about: healthcare, wildfire insurance, housing, utilities, the rising cost of living.

“And if we keep electing leaders who take money from the very corporations that have a vested interest in keeping things the same, we’re never going to get system change.

“I’m angry, and a lot of Americans are angry, and that’s always been a huge part of why  I’m running. I will keep shouting from the rooftops: We need system change.”
