Chico, CA, Oct 27 – For the fifth reporting period in a row, Audrey Denney, candidate for Congress in California’s 1st district, has outraised incumbent Rep. Doug LaMalfa. She has also raised more than all previous opposition campaigns against LaMalfa since 2012 combined. With the final numbers in before the election on November 6, Denney has officially outraised LaMalfa himself this election with donations from more than 10,000 individual contributions.
LaMalfa has raised $928,975 compared to $1,033,000 for Denney. As a candidate who has pledged to not accept any corporate PAC money, it is remarkable that a whopping 97.6% of Audrey Denney’s campaign funds came from real individuals, compared to only 55.1% of LaMalfa’s campaign.
With the outpouring of donations and support from district 1 residents, Denney has now surpassed $1 million raised this election, an unprecedented milestone for opposition campaigns in the north state. More than 73% of itemized contributions to the Denney campaign came from within district 1 over the entire election cycle, while only 40% of LaMalfa’s did. That means the majority of LaMalfa’s funds came from outside money.
“I am incredibly proud of our campaign team who have made this into a competitive race. We have galvanized people to participate in the election this November and vote for change. We never thought we’d reach a million dollars raised, and now that we have, we’re going to give Rep. LaMalfa a run for his money on November 6th,” said Audrey Denney.
During the Q3 reporting period alone, Denney has raised $557,370. That is an incredible 253% more than LaMalfa’s total of $220,000 for Q3. With a professional campaign plan, and now a comparable war chest, the Denney campaign is poised for a surprising outcome in the congressional race in CA-1 on election day, Tuesday, November 6, 2018.
