Today, Audrey Denney responded to the Trump Administration’s reckless actions in Venezuela:
Let me be clear: the Maduro regime in Venezuela is illegitimate, authoritarian, and responsible for enormous human suffering, including one of the largest refugee crises in the world.
But kidnapping leaders—even dictators—threatening regime change, or blowing up international law isn’t strength. It creates chaos and puts civilians at risk.
The United States should lead with law and accountability, not unilateral force. That means working with allies, supporting international investigations, and strengthening democratic institutions rather than blowing past them.
People are rightly angry about reckless foreign intervention, and they are angry because while politicians play cowboy overseas, families at home are struggling to afford rent, healthcare, and groceries.
“America First” has become America alone, reckless abroad and failing people at home.
Real leadership means accountability without lawlessness, and priorities that actually serve working families.
