In just over a month, Audrey Denney has raised over $250K and earned over twenty key endorsements from local leaders across the North State
CHICO, CA – Just over one month since announcing her run for Congress in California’s First Congressional District, educator and non-profit leader Audrey Denney is building strong momentum in fundraising, grassroots endorsements, and national support. The campaign reached a key milestone this week, raising $250,000 in grassroots contributions from over 1,500 individual donors.
On Denney’s fundraising numbers, she noted, “I’m incredibly proud of the people-powered campaign we are building in California’s First Congressional District. It’s a movement built without corporate PAC money, special interests, or business-as-usual thinking. It’s a movement that centers working families and communities – which is why I’ve earned more than twenty endorsements from local leaders fighting for change right here in Northern California. These leaders, organizations, and neighbors are ready for representation rooted in real-world experience, true public service, fairness, and integrity. And this momentum fuels our fight to lower costs, ensure affordable and accessible healthcare for all, and create a government that centers working people, not billionaires or special interests.”
This fundraising milestone along with a national endorsement from EMILYs List and a growing list of grassroots leaders throughout the North State who enthusiastically endorse Denney’s campaign demonstrate that Denney’s people-centered approach to leadership continues to resonate across Northern California.
Here’s what supporters are saying about Audrey:
Rich Ober
Chair, Butte County Democratic Central Committee
It is a great pleasure to give my wholehearted endorsement to Audrey Denney for Congress. Audrey is a tireless leader, a skilled and effective communicator, and a relentless advocate for Californian and American values. Audrey embodies the values of access for all to affordable healthcare, the right of women to make their own decisions about their bodies, every American’s ability to access healthy, affordable food, and the dignity of empowering people to love who they love and to be who they are. I have had the honor of working with Audrey in her lifelong efforts to improve and support food access around the country and especially here in Northern California. Her work in supporting and consulting with food pantries and food banks has meant that thousands of Californians have healthy food on their shelves. Audrey Denney has earned my vote and we need her voice in Congress.
Katie Hawley
Councilmember, City of Chico
Audrey has the tenacious grit necessary to defend her people in the face of authoritarianism. I have full trust in her capabilities to represent our region’s diverse perspectives on a national scale.
Gary McIntire
Lassen County Indivisible, Co-Chair
Audrey Denney is an authentic, determined leader with the knowledge and heart to solve our district’s real problems. Her deep commitment to wildfire prevention, rural climate action, and thriving economies shows she will fight for people, not special interests. We enthusiastically support Audrey to finally bring responsive, effective government to CA CD-1.
Bapu Vaitla
Mayor, City of Davis
Audrey Denney understands that family farms and sustainable agriculture are the backbone of California—nourishing our communities, strengthening our economy, and shaping our shared future. She brings the heart and vision we need to end hunger and build a food system rooted in fairness, stewardship, and community.
Jacob Hibbitts
Former Chair, Lassen County Democratic Central Committee
With a Congress that’s bought and paid for by ultra wealthy outsiders, our communities know they’ve been left behind. With trillions in federal dollars gone to places and people more connected than us, our families have fought for crumbs for generations. We’ve paid the price for absent representation.
As a local servant leader, Audrey Denney has demonstrated the representation our rural communities in Northern California desperately need and rightfully deserve. Audrey’s voice in Congress would mean healthcare we can afford and can count on to be there when we need it. It would mean foresight and direct, impactful action when crisis comes to our community, or our front door. Audrey’s voice in Congress would mean our rural voices and stories could no longer be trumped by those with unfathomable wealth and uncontrollable greed.
Kathy Cole
Chair, Tehama County Democratic Central Committee
Now that Prop 50 has passed and LaMalfa is trudging back to his rice farm, we, in the North State, need to throw our weight and support behind Audrey’s campaign for CD-1 in the upcoming Primary months. We will for once have a Democrat in Congress. Let’s make it Audrey!
Hélène Rouvier
Chair, Humboldt Progressive Democrats
I am proud to support Audrey for Congress. She is the progressive leader we need – unbought and unbossed, she will fight for working class and rural issues. From her roots in family farms to her work as an educator, Audrey has real lived experience in our underserved communities and has the rare ability to bring folks together. She listens to those whose voices have been ignored for far too long, and fights for human rights here and abroad. Whether affordable housing, food security, single payer healthcare, or living wage jobs, Audrey puts working class priorities first and foremost. She is a true public servant, without the corrupting influence of special interest and corporate PAC dollars.
Bryce Goldstein
Councilmember, City of Chico
Audrey is a true representative of the North State, the North Valley, and Chico. She brings new, progressive ideas that work for both our rural communities and our cities. I am excited to see Audrey fight to put the needs of voters above special interest PACs.
…and over 20 additional elected officials, community advocates, and Democratic Party leaders.
